Specialist in Transforming ‘Challenging Behaviour’ in Education
I design and deliver bespoke training and coaching within the education sector.
My specializations are training in Challenging Behaviour and Coaching. I also offer confidential, one to one coaching and mentoring for professionals and students.
It is all about motivation
How do I motivate trainees and ensure that the skills and knowledge that I impart in training sessions actually get put into practice? I need to know that my work makes a difference. I have witnessed too many training events that are of a good standard but as consructivist approaches to education evidence, if not applied within a week new knowledge does not embed and build the necessary neural networks. Many professionals are so busy that they struggle to incorporate
new knowledge into their work and the training becomes little more than an inspiring day with little long term impact.
To address these issues:
- Up to date coaching practices are incorporated into the training
(for example time is set aside for the trainees to identify small targets that will be reviewed at the next session in order to begin the process of new skills integration)
- A one to one coaching/consultancy relationship with trainees or the organization is encouraged
- Training is delivered in a way that models coaching at its best
- The training is underpinned with NLP principles which, greatly deepens the potential for trainees’ learning
- Relevant and easy to use resources and ideas are provived for trainees to take away
My current roles include:
- delivering 'Transforming Challenging Behaviour' training for
professionals in education
- delivering 'Building Learning Power' training in schools and colleges
- designing and delivering the new City and Guilds qualification for Homeless Sector professionals
- facilitating learning through coaching and mentoring for students and professionals
- designing and delivering training on coaching in education and the homeless sector
- introducing alternative, creative approaches to engaging challenging students
